The Department of Pharmacology was started in the year 1993 catering to the needs of diploma and undergraduate students. The post graduate Department of Pharmacology was established in the year 2007. Department now has 10 faculty, 7 research scholars and 18 post graduate students. The Department of Pharmacology is involved in research along with its academic activities and has published more than 200 research papers in reputed national and international journals. Research work of the department is supported from government funding agencies like AICTE, VGST and CSIR.The staff and students have attended national and international conferences and presented their research work. The department has facilities for research in neuro-pharmacology, cardiovascular, immunomodulatory, metabolic disorders, inflammatory diseases, cancer, arthritis and others. It has a separate animal house facility recognized by the CCSEA.

FACILITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT

The department has three big UG laboratories including a digital one with more than 20 computers provided with software for simulated experiments, two PG laboratories, a departmental library, air-conditioned seminar room and instrument room. B.Pharm students have pharmacology in their semester 4, 5 and 6 of four-year programme. For Pharm.D, pharmacology is taught in the second and third years.
