Dr. Vilas Jamakandi, born on 6th August, 1960, did his B. Pharm, in 1983, from K.L.E.S’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum, Karnataka University, Dharwad. M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutics from K.L.E.S’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum, Karnatak University, Karnataka in 1992, and Ph.D. in 2011, from KLE University, Belgaum. He began his teaching career as Lecturer in 1983-1992 at BLDEA’s school of Pharmacy, Vijayapura and K.L.E.S’s College of Pharmacy, Belgaum. Afterwards, he has been appointed as Assistant professor at K.L.E.S’ College of Pharmacy, Hubli. He worked here at various capacities as Associate professor, Professor and Head of the department of Pharmaceutics. From 09.08.2016 to 31/08/2020 he has been given the charge as Principal of K.L.E.S’ College of Pharmacy, Hubli. He worked as member of board of studies and academic council and Dean (2018-2020) for Pharmacy faculty of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University). He is the life member of various associations. He presented many research papers in national and international conferences. He received Best Teacher award by KLE University, Belgaum for the year 2010. Presently Dr. Jamakandi is working as Dean of SET’s College of Pharmacy, Dharwad. Dr. Jamakandi has guided 30 Post-Graduate students for their research projects for the award of M.Pharm degree. One candidate has successfully completed Ph.D degree under his able guidance. He has received funding for his major and minor research projects worth 35 lacs from AICTE/DST. He is a reviewer/editorial board member of many national and international journals. Design, development, formulation and evaluation of Novel drug delivery systems are thrust areas of his research.
